Its been such a long time since I got the opportunity to post here. The primary reason for this is that the manager at the hotel has been keeping a closer eye on what we have been doing online. However, since we have been on our best behavior for a while he has given us some freedom. HURRAY!

Now to bitch and complain!

The turnover at this hotel is ridiculous. I've been here for 2.5 years and in that time, the hotel is on its second general manager, third front desk manager and I can't even tell you how many people have worked the front desk since I started. Last night I was freezing at the front desk, and no amount of adjusting the heat would get me to warm up. I chalked it up to the heater in the lobby not working. Nope, turns out I was sick and now I have a 100 degree fever.

I've had a couple of guests come up to me tonight mentioning the code to the business center isn't working. I find that odd as it has always worked before. When the last guest came up to a short time ago to mention it, I began to get suspicious that maybe they changed it. Thursday, I _finally_ get to upgrade our system to NiteVision 2009 from NiteVision 3.1, which we've been running since 2005. I'm looking forward to the upgrade and the bug fixes, although I'm sure there will be new headaches as well ( Read more... )

I swear, something seems to stop working in this hotel every other week. For example, last week the printers were down for the front desk. Now they're up but I can't get Micros to print. Sure it will run, just won't print. I'm not really sure if it's worth a call to Micros to see if they can help.

We have a group here in Sac that comes to our hotel and it's natives for Native American Health Care. I'm Oglala-Lakota and a far, far way from 'home'. The people up here are usually Miwok, chill people, but cheap and a tad destructive (Smoke in rooms occasionally). I am COMPLETELY friggin sick, and my voice sounds like one of those people with voiceboxes.

I just got a wakeup call, and instead of "Guest services, gnat1982 is speaking", something raspy and unintelligable came out. LMAO

I told the guy not to be scared, I'm not Freddy Krueger, its just the cold.

The hotel called me at midnight last night; the server had gone down. After some quick troubleshooting on the phone, I trundled out into the zero degree weather and made my way up there.
